My head phone jack is jacked, i can touch my cord coming out or it'll cut in and out. Has anyone else had this problem? Question is, should I wait until the thunderbolt is out or maybe until we hear something on the updated X before I return? I'm only a few months into my new contract, but if there's a chance I can pay a couple hundred bucks to get updated technology then I'll hold out a few weeks before I take it in.

Are you sure it isn't the headphones instead of the jack? I had the exact thing happen on my iPod a couple years back & it went away when I got new headphones.

I would try another pair of headphones to see if the problem persist. I've ran into issues like that in the past and it always ended up being the headphones.

I think your talking about 2 unrelated issues...a defective X and wanting a Thunderbolt. They wont let you trade your X for a Thunderbolt. If want that phone, buy it. Whether or not you get one, you should still have your X replaced (assuming it's not the headset that's defective). You can always sell your X on ebay if you buy a Thunderbolt.

I think he is referring to the point where Moto and VZW started giving DX's as warranty replacements for OG Droids. To that I think we are still to early in the life cycle of DX for that option. When/if it does happen, they will probably do the D2 or Bionic to keep you on a Motorola device.

Just my $0.02...

I really do not think this is a Droid X issue but a headphone issue as well, it is wise to test all possible natures of problem before blaming the device because no one has spoke of this being a issue after almost a year since the device released...

No offense but it sounds like a someone that wants another device after buying another and figure they can get Verizon to upgrade them to the one they want if they complain on problems, I do not see this happening, if you are after initial return limit you are stuck with what you have, also if this was a insurance replacement for a Droid 1 then they have upgraded you into a replacement and they are probably not going to consider negotiating which replacement device they will issue.

Just a thought...

Yes I've tried other headphones, that's obviously the first thing anyone would do if they are experiencing this problem.

lsmunoz hit it on the head. I agree, it's still a little too early in the X's life to get an upgraded warranty. I'll still hold out to the beginning of next month and see if I can work anything. Don't get me wrong, I love my X and have no problems with it, but if there's a chance to get newer technology, i'm going to try.

I've had the problem too - its not a headphone issue. I tried 5 different kind of headphones. One with a right angle jack was best, because it jangled least I guess, but still crackled, shocked my ear, and would play/pause/skip music on the player while it sat in my pocket.

To my surprise, both Verizon and Motorola acknowledge that this is a dx problem, so they replaced my dx. I'm using the 'better' headphones, so I rarely see the problem now, but its still there - its one of those things that gets worse as it happens, so minimizing it on the replacement seems to be helping.

I've always used stereo BT headphones, but they're so quiet on the dx (plantronics voyager 855, jay birds, jabra clip and samsung lanyard) I had to go back to corded. Bought the moto ones, but they were so uncomfortable and seemed just as quiet, so I returned them.
