I Pre-orderd a Verizon XL, do I have to take it to the Verizon store?

Title says it all. I pre-ordered an XL with the Verizon SIM, do I have to bring it to the Verizon store to have it put onto my account, or can I do that myself at home?

I've been a Verizon customer for years, and I don't want to change anything about my plan. I just want to put this phone onto my account, take my current phone off, and keep my number...

but take it to the nearest "Verizon store" is advisable

Welcome....it should come with instructions. Most likely all you need to do is turn off your old phone and turn on the new one with the provided sim. Or you can take your current Verizon sim out of your old phone if you have a nano SIM and put it into the new phone.

Do you currently have a phone with a Verizon sim? I was at the store today, told them that I ordered an unlocked phone and they confirmed I can just take the Sim out of my current pixel, put it in the new pixel, attach the data cable and transfer everything

You don't need to go in. I usually log in to my account on the VZW website. Go to your devices and find the Activate Device area. Choose the phone you want to switch it with and there are step by step instructions on the site on what to do. Mostly it's what Mike Dee mentioned. (Turn off both phones, put your old SIM in your new phone, turn it on, go through setup). I have found it does work a bit better if I go through the website first and enter the MEID when it asks, but you may not even need to do any of that.

But you definitely do not need to go in at all. If you still have issues, you can also just call them and they can help over the phone.

You definitely don't need to go in. All you have to do is log into your VZW account, enter the IMEI/MEID and this will activate your phone. You can also put your old SIM into the new phone and this will get it working right away.

If you're uncomfortable with doing all that, you can also call VZW customer support and tell them you want to activate a new phone. They'll ask for the phone information and SIM card number.

A Verizon sim is included....they are usually activated by putting the sim in the phone and you're done. They come with easy instructions.
