I purchase an unlocked phone can I use either set of the sim cards (AT&T or T-Mobile from Straight Talk)?

I am looking to purchase a new unlocked smartphone. My husband purchased the Straight Talk sim card kit. It came with 4 cards (2 nano, 2 micro/regular). One side says for att & unlocked phones and the other side says for T Mobile & unlocked phones. I live in an area that TMobile does not have reception. Would I be able to use either set on an unlocked phone and still get great reception and service?

Thanks. I have been on that website and even chatted with the "agent". But I didn't really get the answer I was looking for Also can i purchase an adapter for a nano to micro card?
