I really do need your advice about BT headsets with the S2

I have heard not good things about the Blueant rugged. Not personal experience, but from people that sell them.

It's been difficult to find reviews about this one and others that are specific.to the S2. They're mostly about aesthetics or the standard features. Some work great on the S2, but great to some might mean something different to me. I'm looking more at function than fit or design.

I ran to Costco and bought the Icon they had. I asked if they'd had a lot of returns on it and they said no, so I thought I'd try it out. So far, it works great, but for one major problem. All sounds come from both the phone and the headset. From what I can tell, this is normal behavior. I can't have my phone going off i meetings and it makes me crazy having a phone # read to me in my ear while the pho.e is ringing at the same time. Plus, if I adjust the volume down or silence my phone, it also silences the JB. I didn't know people like this feature. Notification sounds come through both as well.

I did read about issues with the T1, so I have been checking out the Q2 and Plantronics. This is so frustrating....argh

^Yea, I noticed that also. I used to use it on my iPhone 4 and it wasn't really a problem or at least I didn't pay too much attention to it. I don't know is it the phone/software issue or the bluetooth itself.

Yeah, I can't figure that out myself. JB seems to tell a lot of people to either call the carrier or call the phone manufacturer. I just don't want to have to go through all that and certainly not for something that costs $130! JB focused on the iPhone because it was such a big seller, so it worked flawlessly on it. Now that Android is surging and just recently passed iPhone in sales, they're playing catch-up. For me anyway, I don't think the JB is ready for prime-time on Android.

I just wish the reviews I find addressed functionality on the S2, specifically. Even in xda they only discuss BT issues with different ROM's vs. stock S2 rooted.

So, I reset the JB Icon. Turned off BT on my phone. Turned the phone off. Took the battery out for 20 seconds. Turned the phone back on. Put the JB into pairing mode. Turned BT on, on my phone and had it find the JB and it works! Turned the phone to silent and it only rings in my ear. Used with Samsung Voice Talk, it works well. Now, I just have to locate an app that will read my texts to me. Aliph has one, but I'd rather support a dev. Got the Icon at Costco for $69. Cheaper at Best Buy ($61), but Aliph's warranty doesn't apply if I buy it anywhere but directly from them or, AT&T, and Best Buy's warranty coverage is $20. With Costco, I can return it if it explodes and they'll deal with Aliph.

Thank heaven that's over! lol It doesn't do a few things I'd like it to do, but I can live with that. Especially since it's last year's model!

Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate the recommendations :)
