Its crazy that a dozen or so guys can homebrew a better OS tweak and patch than the highly paid team at google, htc and verizon.

It's because Google brews for the masses, which demand all sorts of toys, while the ROM developers can leave out some of the bloat that slows a phone down.

Google also needs to be able to service their phones. A one size fits all approach makes training tech folk so much easier.

I'll second the thanks to the ROM developers. Skyraider 2.2 is awesome.
