Pricing continues to be ridiculous for a mid tier product. Samsung makes the pixel display. Samsung makes the pixel tensor chip. 128gb storage for a pixel flagship in 2024. Google will provide higher trade in value for a used Samsung over a used pixel, their own product. Why would anyone buy this over a Galaxy phone is what I continue to ask myself. Google needs to offer reasonable trade in deals and give expandable storage or start the phone off at 512gb minimum.
I'm not that keen on the Samsung UI and I wouldn't likely buy one (to each their own), but I agree that Google's trade-in values for their own products is ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous in Canada, where they offer even less (CAD adjusted to USD) than they offer our U.S. friends.
Who knows, if Google offered me a fair trade-in and the same discounted deals they offer to their U.S. customers, I might be using a Pixel 9 Pro XL right now.
On the other hand, maybe I should actually be thanking Google instead of criticising them. After all, their Canadian marketing strategy (or more appropriately, lack of one) helps me to save money every year, rather than spend it on a new phone that I don't really need.
My Pixel 8 Pro still works great.
