I used the widget to display my calendar. How do I hide the calendar now?

The calendar is now taking up most of my screen. This is my first Android and I an still learning. Not doing too good so far

Long-press it and slide it up to Remove. It will be stored in the widget locker. You can if you wish to later move it back to a Home screen from the locker - and also other widgets that you'll find in there - by long-pressing, dragging and dropping. Access to the widget locker is usually by long-pressing a blank area of Home screen.
Alternatively, you could slide your calendar widget to the right instead of up to Remove, in which case it will take up position on another Home screen....if necessary, creating a new Home screen even, up to a certain limit.
