When this flap up about burn-in/image retention came up, my first thought was to grab an app that would let me hide the navbar and status bar since it was navbar burn in that got Alex Dobie's dander up in the first place. FYI, those apps are not the best way to deal with this unless you at least change their permissions via adb, but I just wanted something to tide me over until my pals at Google came to their senses and enabled Immersive Mode on the Pixel 2 and 2 XL.
Now the folks at XDA have made it clear that Google's prolly not gonna do any such thing until they convince themselves that Immersive Mode and Active Edge (the new squeeze for assistant feature) can live together in perfect harmony. And since the Googlers made a BF deal about Active Edge during the Pixel 2 launch, and since the 2016 Pixels didn't allow for Immersive Mode out of the box either, I'm thinking I'll end up going the adb route eventually after all.
