Ok I'm ready to uninstall Voodoo. I am having issues with my Dialer app and I'd just like to start over (and try out a Clean ROM).

I read a bunch of threads about uninstalling Voodoo being a nightmare! I seen how to make the blank file to 'disable' Voodoo. That doesn't sound like uninstalling if I'm just disabling it.

So can someone please point me in the right direction before I start tinkering myself into problems.

I'm confused about the process. I have CWM which I used to install Voodoo. I am rooted. I have never used Odin and I couldn't even find out where to get it (not even sure if I'll need it?)

Have you looked on the XDA forums? I'm pretty sure I saw an automatic installer for the Voodoo kernels.

You do need Odin and you can find it in the CWM recovery thread...Namebrandon had a link to it.

I don't know about voodoo since I don't have it but everyone says it's fairly easy to remove

You can uninstall voodoo without doing the Completely remove Voodoo method I believe. If the remove_lagfix method does not work, then you go the complete removal route.

I am getting ready to remove voodoo on mine right now. Planning on getting JT's rom loaded.

for all the purpose of flashing a new rom or wiping, the blank file disable method is all you need.

if it hangs or doesn't uninstall properly, then you can use adryn's automated uninstaller referenced.

I did the disable_lagfix file and the voice went thru its process and said successful. the phone looked off so I powered it on. Verizon logo shined way longer then normal and then I get a black screen. A voice said something about data partition active.

A few battery pull reboots later it goes thru the voice prompting of the 'disable' again. And after powering on I'm at the black screen again but I didnt hear any voice about a partition active.
All the soft keys are lit and i'm stuck at a black screen.

I really really really miss my iphone. omg this device is junk

I get permission denied when using adb. I even went thru the process of rooting again and same thing.

I'm doing the redo thing with Odin right now. I'm up way later then I wanted to be but its crucial I have phone service tommorow.

Ah the joys of tinkering with my devices!

i'm back to stock after a fun round of force close hell. thank god for cory's thread on how to fix that. alot involved but there was light at the end of the tunnel.

I installed JT's Super Clean Rom via Rom Manager this morning. The process was smooth (thats a first, everything else is chaos!)...

Touchwiz is faster then it every was. Its so fast that I haven't even bothered with LauncherPro yet. Setting a shortcut is almost instant vs the 15 seconds it used to take. App drawer fast. Running and closing apps fast.

Everything is working as I would expect it to work out of the box... cept this device doesn't work like that at all. Alot of experimenting to get this thing speedy.

I cannot tolerate an ounce of lag.

Only issue so far is the camera app is laggy. The camera app has always been laggy. I checked the market for something else but nothing notable just yet. I'll live with it in the meantime but I guess I gotta learn how to make apps so I can get that fixed too.

I noticed installing a bunch of apps starts slowing the device down. I got the idea of putting all my apps on the SD card and seeing if that keeps it from happening...
So far its just an idea I haven't even figured out how to move apps to the SD card and how that all works.

you need to wait for 2.2 to move apps to the sd card.

if you followed the instructions to the letter in the post about removing voodoo, you wouldn't get a FC loop, also for future reference, if you need root access, just boot into clockwork recovery as you have root access while in there.

glad you got it all working for now though :)
