I have looked at a couple threads regarding this, but they didn't seem to fit my situation so please help a brother out I currently have a palm Pre that is oc'd and patched like crazy and I love it other than the horrible build quality and the lag regardless of the oc. I am on my 7th Pre and it is resetting 2 times a day and im tired of going through the switching. The good people at the local sprint store have offered to switch me out without cost and use of my upgrade to either a Transform or a Optimus. I figured it would be a good time to try out android and either stay with android and upgrade to a top level phone or see what palm hp has on feb 9th. So, which phone would you go with and why?

There is things I like about each...

Transform: camera flash, camera features, 800mhz, 3.5 screen, physical keyboard.

Optimus: froyo 2.2, 512mb, screen clearer? Heard that it's faster? Live wallpapers

Anyways, would love your thoughts...going in on mon or tue. Thanks

Ken

I looked at both as well. I just felt the transform was outdated and large. Also, its a samsung, and theyre not very good about updating their phones. look at the EPic, still doesnt have 2.2.

I came from a TP2 so I know all about Keyboards. The onscreen keyboard on the optimus is decent, especially in landscape.
I wish it had a flash and LED lights to indicate different things.

You may want to take a look at the Evo Shift that just came out.

Hope this helps...

optimus s = froyo transform = eclair.

who knows what samsung/sprint will update those either. i don't think the epic has even gotten froyo yet lol.

that 200mhz really does not make a difference. however that 512mb of ram makes a huge difference. this phone will feel 100x faster in your hand than the transform. if you can get over not having a kb, flash, or ffc, then the lg will be perfect.

I think we all kind of had to make the same decision. If u search YouTube it wont take long for u to decide. The final kicker for me was the fact that the transform couldn't even play angry birds....so what else can't it do? Yes there's no physical keyboard but that doesn't take long to get used to, and no there is not an LED indicator but there is an app that will flash the screen. So all in all there's no camera flash and that's the worse part. I came from blackberry and Palm and I am hey happy with this phone. And I kinda like the fact that's it not HUGE like some phones are now. Anyway good luck

Honestly I was debating between these two, especially since my last 3 phones were samsung and they all performed well for the two years I had each of them. We even handed one down to my aunt and it's still working great three years after I stopped using it. So, in my experience, samsung phones have held up for me very, very well.

However, when looking at sprint.com's customer reviews of the two phone, there were a lot of mixed reviews on the transform and people for the most part seemed to enjoy the optimus. Also, it comes with froyo right out of the box and while texting on my instinct was annoying at times, swype makes texting on a touchscreen effortless and fast. Also, the transform was just seemed too thick for me to stick in my pocket and my mom got an optimus a few weeks before I got mine and I was hooked after playing around with it a bit.

Obviously I opted for the optimus (see what I did there??), but I also just enjoyed playing around with the store demo of it more than the transform. It really comes down to what you're more comfortable with; everything else about it will probably become outdated in a few months to a year, anyway. But I do think it's a better phone, for what it's worth :)

Thanks guys, ended up with the Optimus :) It was just way faster and I am happy with it so far, thanks
