We have no control over your phone. We are just users, like you.

"Gallery" is not a location, it is an app.
Some photo viewing apps know how to access your photos on the Google servers, some apps do not.
If you need to use your gallery app, you can have your photos downloaded to your phone. See the Google Photos app.

Welcome to Android Central! I agree with everything ManiacJoe says. Which phone do you have? If it doesn't have the Google Photos app preinstalled, I would highly recommend installing it and just using it as your default gallery app. Assuming you have a lot of photos backed up to your Google Photos in the cloud, this is the best way to get easy access to them, and it also gives you Google Photos's amazing search feature.
