Ice Cream Sandwich Question

One thing most ppl dont realize is that Blur, Moto Application Platform, the skin formerly known as Blur...lol..is the closest skin to stock Android than the others. I have a Rezound and RAZR. And the Rezound with Sense UI is heavier than whats on the RAZR.

Put it like this: the Rezound vs the RAZR...ICS might be more recognized on the RAZR than Rezound. I seen some HTC phone (the Ville?) with ICS and Sense 4.0 and just based on the lock screen its hard to tell its running ICS. The home screen dock area you can tell tho.

What was shown for the RAZR recently...the lock screen does look different...but to me ICS still might be more recognizable on the RAZR.

IF that holds true for ICS on the RAZR....just looking at the home screen it could be mistaken for a G Nex. And in all honestly...what they did with GB on the Droid X1 and RAZR...I think whatever Moto does with ICS will be nice.

Close to stock does not equal stock. They still add in Moto's warped idea of what Android should like and how it should perform.

I think whatever Moto does to ICS will be more of the same second rate design they have done since they created the term Blur.

Judging by the pictures we've seen, it will be the closest to stock you can get. In fact, it looks like what they've done is mostly superficial, like replacing icons and skinning the notification bar.

Ok....

Stock Android isnt the end all be all. I had a Droid 1 and G Nex. Droid 1? I added so much 3rd party stuff to it, ran so many ROMs, it wasnt stock anymore. ICS is the best stock Android on phones to date. Point of my post was....custom UI's isnt as bad as some ppl make it. And some custom UI's might be more appealing than others for whatever reason.

Like I said before.... look at stock Gingerbread, use stock Gingerbread on a stock Android phone like the Nexus S...then use a phone like the Rezound or RAZR...and please tell me where they made Gingerbread worse than stock.. Cuz in the end its all about preference. And if you think Blur is a warped idea...you must never have used Sense UI. Sense UI could be an entire free standing OS if HTC keeps going they way they are.

And since you feel that way about Moto and Blur...arent you glad you chose the G Nex? After using the RAZR, G Nex and Rezound.... Blur cant be all that bad since I no longer have my G Nex. Still have my Rezound too. You know...that lil thing called wants n needs came into play. By the way...Blur cant be totally 2nd rate since ICS has resizable widgets.

I took my Razr to VZW and did a side-by-side comparison with the GN. Except for some blue highlights and optional widgets I still can't tell what Blur is.

One thing I did notice is that Google "borrowed " ideas from Sense and incorporate them into ICS. Funny how that works, huh?

What ideas did Google borrow in your opinion?

@jroc, I have never said ICS is the end all. I simply do not like what Blur or whatever it's being called now does. I don't care for sense either

I have owned phones with each of those OS's, not simply tried them out in a store for a few minutes.

I have owned the G Nex, RAZR and Rezound. I own the RAZR and Rezound now. had the G Nex for 10-11 days. Tried different things with it except exchange it or the Sim card. So I am not just speaking from what I read in forums.

And you right, you didnt say it was the end all be all....

Just going by what you are inferring. That if it isnt stock it isnt good. You meant something by warped and 2nd rate, right? And I skipped over when you said "how it performs" So all the folks and reviews that are praising Blur on the RAZR are praising it for.....under performing?

Google borrowed resizable widgets, side scrolling app drawer, if one wanted to go there....look at the settings area for iOS and ICS, Honeycomb...that On/Off slider? Even having the Settings menu constantly in the pull down shade is a take on Touchwiz's notification toggles. Doesnt make it a bad thing....but some ppl REALLY need to get off the ICS, stock Android high horse. Its not ICS , stock Android or bust. There are other things ppl like about Android.

And just remember what direction this thread is going NOW..based on your earlier post...

I know I didn't say that.

Instead of claiming someone is saying something, stick with what is being said. Or would you like me to start claiming that you have said things you haven't? As far as this conversation is concerned, I am through. It is downright offensive to me that anyone is arrogant enough to make claims that people are saying things they haven't said.

He said everything you said he did...it's still in the thread ...he should have read is post again for proof...

I think it will be a great addition to an already fantastic device.

Stock is overrated and boring. I'm actually starting to miss Sense but since there are a ton of Sense-type widgets available in the Market, I can have the style and performance.

I know what u mean. I liked my. O.G. DROID, but tried so hard to make it into an HTC Hero. Then got the DROID X, and got use to the blur, but I still had multiple home replacements. Kept my thunderbolt stock, and I switch homes on my RAZR now.

I am actually one that doesn't mind Motorola's skin..blur..whatever you want to call it. It's not vanilla, but that doesn't mean it's not good. It adds some nice features. I totally understand that it does bother some, so obviously not the phone for them. What really bothers me more then anything is bloatware! Unwanted apps shoved onto my phone that I can't remove without rooting. Anyway, I think ics will be nice on the razr..kind of like now..close to stock with some subtle changes. If your not into that, the nexus is available without waiting to see.

Same here.

I am okay with Blur. I thought it would be hard to get used to after being stock (or ROMd) but it is fine.
