Ok I am at my witts end here.

I have just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and am trying to access my iCloud e-mail on it and having no luck whatsoever.

I have scanned the internet for answers, some contradict others, and some are so vague I just do not get it.

What I have done so far:

Set up two factor authentication

Generated an App specific password

In the stock Mail app I have entered the following:

Email address - xxxxxx@me.com
Username - I have tried the xxxxxx on its own, with @me.com and used the actual apple ID username which is xxxxxx@gmail.com i have also tried iCloud.com and me.com
Password - I have used the app specific password, both with and without the dashes

Incoming server - imap.mail.me.com
Security - SSL
Port - 993

Outgoing server - smtp.mail.me.com
Security - TLS
Port - 587
Authentication Required - Yes
Username - As above I have tried the xxxxxx on its own, with @me.com, iCloud.com and used the actual apple ID username which is xxxxxx@gmail.com
Password - I have used the app specific password, both with and without the dashes

Absolutely no luck, says the username/password is wrong.

I have also tried Outlook & Newton and again they say the username or password is wrong.

I am completely lost now, I have absolutely no idea where to turn next.

Can anyone please shed some light on this?

Welcome to Android Central. There are quite a few threads in this forum for iPhone to S8 help. I know the iCloud issue is a problem for some, hopefully your fellow converts will jump in to help :)

Mod Note: Thread moved for better visibility.

I have tried it with Gmail app and outlook app. With outlook app it's much easier because it can recognize you are using icloud and will trigger the wizard for it during setup. Including getting a app specific password.

Btw this is using Gmail.

Shouldn't that map.mail.me.com be imap.mail.me.com (an 'i' in front)? Check it.

I have not tried to get it working on the default app, however, I got it working really easy with Outlook and an app specific password. Perhaps try that and see if it works.
