Hi

I can not find the icon for the app TripAdvisor. The list "My Apps" is sorted alphabetically so I ought to find it easy.

Can not find it among "downloaded apps" either (can not be sorted alphabetically).

It appears in application manager. Can not be uninstalled, only stop updates. (Tried that back and forth.)

I can only open the app when I am on line and search the app in Google Play Shop.

Restart device doesn't help. (GN3)

How do I get the icon back?

Thanks.

It looks like the app came preinstalled in your phone, so you'll find it in the "all" tab. In settings - apps just swipe to the left to find it and scroll down (that tab is alphabetical).

Thanks Javier. But I think you talk about the three tabs that come up when you press "Apps" on the main screen. Left is "Apps" (alphabetical, which you call all) and right is "Downloaded".
The icon does not appear there. (The phone did not come with it.)

The icon is gone even though the app is installed.

Downloaded is the first tab but there are more. The order is downloaded, running, all and disabled. Swipe to the left. This is after you select settings - apps.

My guess that it came with the phone is because you said it can't be uninstalled.

Maybe it looks different in your phone (which one?) but it should be something like this:

In the list in the screen shot you enclose I can find it. But I can not find the icon among "apps" on the "desktop". I enclose screen shot.
TripAdvisor ought to be between Total Commander and Twitter. I have also checked the whole list.

Just to clarify. TripAdvisor app appears in settings/application manager, both under downloaded and all.

But I can not open the app since its icon does not appear under "Apps" on the "desktop"

I have searched those three tabs: apps, widgets and the download-arrow.
The TripAdvisor icon can not be found there.
I think it is an error in the system and I can not reinstall it since it can not be uninstalled :(
The app can only be opened through play shop if I am on line !!

Got the picture now. Bit slow in a Monday morning :).

OK. If it can't be disabled I don't know what else could work. Is the app in the phone or in an SD card? Sometimes kitkat have problems with that.

It does not allow moving to SD card. I have just desperately pressed the rest of the buttons in the screen shot that are not greyed out. And restarted.
I think it also reinstalled itself when I went from no updates to updates.

But the bleeding icon is gone.

The only thing I can think of is that it is hiding under another icon.
For example. To find Chrome I must first click Google.
But I do not believe this is the case. I have seen the icon before and it does not belong to any "group" like Chrome does.

That "turn off" is the disable I das talking before. It's weird. It's not a question of a hidden icon in your screen because it's the app that is hidden!

Found this. Last bullet mate :) :)

On Samsung Galaxy device, you can see hidden apps and you don't need to remove them from hidden list to see them. To show hidden apps on Galaxy Note 8 do as follows:

1. Open App drawer (app list)

2. First let's review, how to hide an app. (If you already now, jump to step 6)

3. Tap "Menu Button" and then select "Hide Applications"

4. Mark the apps to add to the hidden apps list

5. Tap Done

6. Now, to see hidden applications, tap Menu Button

7. Select "Show Hidden Applications" and now you enter to the hidden apps list

8. Marking each apps, change their status from hidden to visible

Thanks for your patience.
When I follow your instructions I can not find "hide" app but I can find "disable" app.
TripAdvisor is not in this list.
I also go to uninstall/disable apps in the same menu. A little surprisingly I find TripAdvisor there. See screen shot.
I do not activate those functions since I had already done that from application manager.
When I check again, the app is still gone.
But when I now check, the app is back in the list!!!! I have not done "anything".

I do not understand why the app icon has an arrow added to it in the *previous* screen shot in application manager. No other app has that. That arrow is still there now that the app is back.

That arrow may be the clue to understanding why it disappears.

I can not find anything in Google about app icons in application manager with added arrows. Looks like shortcut in windows.

The app that has come back on desktop has no arrow! 😩

Look under Galaxy Apps icon. The TripAdvisor icon will be there. Just move this icon to the desktop.

When I press Galaxy Apps a program opens that looks like Google Play Store. I don't think these icons can be moved? If you press them you install the corresponding apps?

I don't think I have a Galaxy Plus icon? Where is it located?
When I Google for Galaxy Plus, it seems to be another model of smartphone?
My Galaxy Note 3 is N9005.

We have the same model. The Galaxy Plus appeared after upgrading to OS 4.4.2 and contains Sketchbook, Dropbox and TripAdvisor icons.
Suggest you upgrade your OS.

I run 4.4.2 on Note 3. I can not find a Galaxy Plus icon?
Maybe your phone was sold via a telecom operator that included this group of icons? Mine is not operator locked.
