Icon missing but still installed?

So recently something strange has been happening on my wifes LGG4.

An couple of app icons have just vanished. Not on home screen or in the app drawer. But if we go to google play, it says they are still installed. What could be causing this?

I fixed one by uninstalling and reinstalling it, but the one she encountered today still will not show up even after that.

She even had one where the icon still showed but it said it was not installed. A uninstall and reinstall of it fixed this as well.

What could be causing these issues and how to we prevent it from continuing?

First thing I'd do is go to settings, smart cleaning and clear your temp files. After that restart phone and see if they reappear. Uninstalling and re-installing each time seems a bit much.

Personally I recommend using Nova Launcher Prime as stock is not great.
