Icon names getting cutoff?

Hello!

This isn't a big deal, but I mostly was just curious. Why do icon names get cutoff on the home screen.

(Example: Foursquare is Fouresquar or Sprint Zone is Sprint Zon)

I think its just by design. Home screens are a 4x4 grid so each cell in the grid has a set about of horizontal and vertical space. So if the label is wider then the available space the only real option is for it to be cut short.
