My Iconia A100 is currently downloading an update that I just received.

Has anyone else received this OTA?

I have no idea what it could be - it's been so long since it's gotten any updates I figured it was forgotten by Acer.

Its only 64 MB so it can't be all that much - but there was nothing stating what it was so I'm curious.

Well it was not a bump to JB - it's still running the same 4.0.3 it was running. Must be some bug fixes or something needed from a legal perspective.
Very odd though for this long dormant (but solid) dinosaur to get an update.

No. Freaking. Way. Amazing that Acer is still supporting this thing. An update that small but this late in the game is presumably some kind of security update.

I think I discovered one thing that came with this update. Chrome is now a system app, whereas I'm pretty sure it wasn't before. Or am I imagining that? It's hard for me to tell, because I generally disable Chrome in favor of the stock Browser when available.

Mine got the update too. I just uninstalled Chrome. Had tried it in the past but uninstalled it. Thought maybe I hadnt actually uninstalled it previously. Huh, maybe the update is intended to be compatible with chrome? Love my tablet. Glad it hasnt been forgotten.

Sent from my A100 using AC Forums mobile app

Previously, you could install Chrome on your own and uninstall it if you didn't like it. But now, it's a system app, so you can't uninstall it--you can only disable it.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and I have a question. I just got my update and after the update tablet booted fine and ran fine until I got the low battery warning. I turned mu A100 off and put on charge. After charge it is not booting. Looks like it is stuck in a loop. I try the recovery mode and I get this:
E:/dev/block/mmcblk1 does not exist
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /mnt/sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted

any help would be greatly appreciated.

ThanX
Sal
