hi,

i haven't seen this addressed, but it may be an-informed question. so, excuse my naivety.

should i have any concerns with app compatibility to ICS coming from an OG Droid running froyo? asked another way: will my favorite apps just "work" in ICS (on the GN) without developers need to update?

also, could someone point me to a tutorial (or any additional info) for restoring my OG Droid Apps/settings to a new phone like the GN?

thanks,
lance

The apps should just work, but optimization may be needed. Chances are, if they optimized it for honeycomb, its optimized for ics. Is your og Droid rooted? You'll need to root both devices and use a program like titanium or my root backup

Im currently running a 4.0 sdk build on my Nexus S and the compatibility is quite impressive with both gingerbread and honeycomb centric apps.

Yeah, I wrote a simple honeycomb app, but right now adt is giving me crap with the latest Ubuntu release and haven't been able to test it yet with ics. Ill try it out in windows sometime this week

thanks for the reply. i appreciate it!!!

i am not rooted, but i will investigate to see if it's worth it.

Will there be an issue with app compatability w/ ICS?

so with the nexus being the only ICS device out, will there be issues with all the apps working with it or does the OS not matter?

I'm just wondering if I should hold off a while and let apps become compatible with ICS or if that won't matter.

Over on XDA-Developers, they've put together a lit of apps that have compatibility issues. Many of them have been updated for ICS compatibility, and i'm sure soon enough we'll see the majority, if not all of them, have their compatibility issues resolved. Some of the apps listed are apps we won't even be using (i.e., BBC iPlayer)

Since there is no external SD slot on the Nexus, how would one go about loading their backup from Titanium?? It seems to pull information from the files on the SD card...

Tapatalk still isn't working.

Andrew, you have the best avatar ever. It cracks me up every time I see it. I think I'm going to start having monthly Avatar contests.
