ICS NOW!

I just read on the htc Facebook page that they are aiming to have the official ics ota to the rezound before the end of July. Do I believe it? Not sure, just taking it with a grain of salt.

I love getting "news" from Facebook.

I have no experience in rooting phones and have a very healthy fear of bricking. I've been reading these forums since March and have patiently been waiting for the ICS OTA.

My friend (lives in St. Louis) just called me. She's on TMobile and has a Galaxy S2 - she got ICS last night.

I'm so jealous now! I should just install the latest leak.....

Yes you should. End your misery and suffering and get on with your life...also you're probably wearing out your "System Update" screen lol.

Well it was the official htc Facebook page, and it was posted by their administrator who answered a question from a rezound owner. Normally when asked about the update they state working to get it to you sooner than later so for the administrator to answer that they are shooting to get it to us before the end of July is giving a glimmer of hope. And no I do not want to do the leaked version because I just don't have faith that I will do it correctly. Also I use my Bluetooth religiously and I thought I heard with an earlier leaked version, it has issues with Bluetooth. If we get it in July good if not oh well. I won't be disappointed.

The end of July, That makes me as made as a bunch of hornets. I was hoping by the end of JUNE. These delays and locked down bootloaders are the reason why many people are heading towards the hackers dream phones, Samsung phones are the easiest to hack and all the good devs are jumping on them. HTC is killing their brand, I was a guy who started with the Nexus One and stuck with the HTC devices. I have never been so frustrated with HTC then of late. I think the Rezound is a great phone, has what I think is better bones then the new HTC devices, sd card, removable battery, great screen, Beats audio and the most important thing is the signal and radios are the strongest of all Verizon phones. It's too bad that HTC is so anal about certain things. They need to get their updates out to their phones and knock off the bull .

I hope people are not really stressing out over this, its not something to stress about, although now we can all afford the mental health care that follows :)

Ive got ics on my xoom, and honestly, I don't care if I never get it on the rezond. Absolutely no improvments wortgh mentioning. Just praying they don't update to jellybean. Don't need the goog
e bloatware on top of the verizon crap.

ICS/JB are incredible improvements over GB. Like the ability to disable any app that you don't want. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I've used ICS for months and JB for a day and I see many ways that they are better than GB.

Not sure if you know the real differences between GB and ICS/JB then.

You didn't see an improvement on your Xoom when it moved from Honeycomb to ICS?? Holy hell, it was like going from... a Ford to a Ferrari... from a lighter to a flamethrower... from Pat to Playmate Centerfold of Year.

Agreed but Honeycomb was garbage. An alpha of ICS.

I have a pair of questions:

1) Do you need to be rooted to flash the leak or is it an RUU installable like we have sometimes seen before?

2) What if you're using a Mac?

1) no you don't have to be rooted. The RUU will though overwrite your internal SD card so make a backup of everything before you start.

2) no problems. I am a Mac user. All you need the computer for is to download the file, rename it to PH98IMG.zip and place it on your external sd card. If your Mac unzips it just highlight it and select archive from the file menu. That will rezip it up.

I'd suggest you read Mr. Smith's guide to flashing an RUU. It's stickied in the ROMs and Mods section.
