Anyone else notice ics uses 50-100mb more from boot than gb did? Makes me think battery life will be worse

I'm hoping the next RAZR iteration will have 2GB. And maybe be a Nexus. Fingers crossed.

The more RAM usage thing really pisses me off more than anything else they have changed. The phone use to run cool and smoothly at around 500mb of usage and gave me a choice to 'Auto End' programs that I installed but wasn't necessary to keep running all the damn time.

I hate it when devs give me something new and pretty to look at, but take away my options and right to choose. Sounds like our government, or Apple, doesn't it? Now I have to restart my phone all the time just to get it back to 600 or so and by the end of the day it's running in the high 700s with very little to spare. It's working too hard all the time and with all that running of course the battery is worse.

Perhaps you people are also peeved that Windows 7 uses more ram than Windows 3.1? :p

Any time a program is updated with new features added, it's going to use more space. And I'm guess a lot of the excess is to maintain backward compatibility on some stuff. Yeah it sucks if it makes space limited, but that's computers for you.

What good will that do. They will still program it to use most of it all the time anyway. I had a Samsung Droid charge with 512 and that thing ran so high that the device would constantly crash. I then got the Maxx on GB. What a freaking relief. It ran in the low 500 and never needed a restart. FOR ANYTHING. Along comes ics and now I have to reboot it daily to keep things just ok. I'm sure that if you got a 2gb ram device they would figure out how to utilize 1.9 of it all the damn time.

What it forces you to do is buy a newer computer to handle the new crap as smooth as the old one handled 3.1. It's a marketing thing. Its a money making thing. And it has us all by the you know whats. I just got this thing and now I have to consider getting a Maxx HD so I can have smooth performance back. Then what, they update it to Jelly bean which adds more crap that we all 'think' we need. They've got you in this never ending loop. They've got us all. If this wasn't the master plan they'd give us the freaking option to stay on the OS that works the best on the device we own. Anything beyond that option is just greed.

you do realize Android is designed to keep those programs in its memory? Having 500mb of free RAM is not necessarily a good thing. the OS will end running programs on its own when it needs the space.
