I'd like to upload photos to my PC but it doesn't recognize my S6

I've had other phones and never had this problem; you plug in the USB and it recognizes it as a drive. I just switched from S4 to S6 and it won't recognize it. I've even tried different cables.

Try Samsung's Smart Switch program, not the app. It's taking over from Kies and should install the correct drivers when you connect by usb and select MTP via the notification bar.
It will no longer read as a drive (from 4.4 I'm told) but as a Portable Media Player, though you can explore it as before.
