Remember in the aosp rom for our phone there is a flashable thingmigig to make it work on sprint phones what if we grabbed an optimus v ics rom and flash that on it will it work or will it not. that would be cool if it did work. if you have any ideas on how this will go or if you tried it please let me know

I really don't think a real ICS rom is capable on the optimus. It would be nice but it will never happen.

The ics launcher I presume is from the market. And the ics cyanogenmod theme is also from the market.

I agree! The kravens cm7 is your best bet with the ics look and feel.

thanks i have the kravens cm7 rom but how come the devs cant port it? i dont expect them to do it like poof but if anybody is willing to do it i will help in any way i can. i have knowledge on the android device maybe not in developing but im a good tester.

Its something with the framework! I'm not a dev and I'm not saying its impossible but it would be quite a but of time and resources to accomplish a ics rom on such a small device.

Ics possible. ..yes...likely...who knows. There are some awesome devs out there and if there is a way I'm sure it will happen. I will keep my eye out for anything that gets us closer.

It may take a while yes it would but still i know all the people with the optimus s want ics roms they would be the most popular. i know it can be possible because the htc hero stock is donut. now it is gingerbread that small sucky phone made it up to gingerbread from donut thats crazy! i think our phone can do it but i dont see why devs are not taking time to develop it. i tried to create one but my computers too slow. :) but it is very possible to do so and i dont see why devs dont start working on it all of the devs for this phone can team up to make ics roms i know it would take time but would be awesome to have and would be good to be able to flash from vd baseband because i like cm7 and everything and i would be able to switch between roms on my 8 gb sd card and the vd baseband would get more roms that are being currently developed. i just think it would be pretty cool to be able to have ics on our phone. sorry for having this post so long i just want ics so bad. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Well I have a evo 3d and it has ics roms and it still has issues with camera, 3d, and wimax and no fix in sight. Optimus with ics possible but unlikely.

I'm just saying its a far superior phone to the optimus with ics issues. My phone runs extremely insane fast with gingerbread. Ics is over rated and will not happen on the optimus. I've never had any of those issues. Maybe ur friend should go to xda. I would love to see ics on the optimus but I'm sure drew or team hydro or the kraven could explain it to you more clearly.

The problem is that lack of access to LG's lcd drivers, the phone's radio, etc that an ICS rom needs

I understand the enthusiasm behind this thread and it is refreshing, however if devs are reporting that it wont happen then that statement must be respected. The coding differences in the releases are so far different from eachother that it dies make it almost impossible to do. The examples from other phones are good representations of people/devs attempting to port to phones that ICS doesn't belong on and all the issues related to it. I believe that if more people had experience and understanding of how the android system works, they would understand more of what would have to be done in order for drivers from one build to work on another build with completely different coding involved. Let me give a more understandable example as most operating systems are backwards compatible, this may not be the best example, but needed nonetheless. For example, if you are running windows 7 on your computer and would like to play a game that was built for windows XP. Most, if not all of the functions of the game may or may not work. In order to get it to work, reprogramming the code of the drivers is needed in order for the game to operate as desired. Just imagine re-engineering a game to play it and it may crash at any point because the drivers are still not built specifically for the operating system; on top of that, the drivers are closed source so they are not able to be opened in the raw format to be edited. So, what I am getting at is that its almost impossible. Not because the devs can't or don't want to, but because the files/drivers that are needed for the phone to work properly are closed source. I hope that helps more people understand the situation.:-$
