Idol 3 (4.7) Temperature Monitoring Apps

Apps such as Temp Monitor and Core Master, are designed to measure operating temperatures. But doesn't the phone/chip have to have the proper hardware? I installed Core Master and it occasionally reports that my core temperature is high. GSM battery supposedly monitors my battery temperature (and other values) as well.

But, does the phone and the Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chip, actually have the hardware to report to these apps?

All these apps do is display temperatures the device already monitors. The apps just shows it to you in an interface that's easy to read. It's not like the apps ask for something that's not there and expect the hardware to all of a sudden create the data.
