Idol 3 Price Drop to $199.99!! (Update: Discount was only temporary. Back to $249.99.)

Looks like Alcatel is making up for the weak Amazon attempt at a Primeday sale. At about 8am central time this morning, Amazon dropped the price of the Idol 3 from $249.99 to $199.99 for a Primeday Lightning sale. The deal was unavailable seconds later. BUT...just visited Alcatel's site and they've standardized that $199.99 price tag! I applaud Alcatel for whatever they've done to make this possible for us the consumer. I'm going to sell my Note 4 and get an Idol 3 just to support this company. Just wanted to share this info with everyone!

Nice! Same as the pre-order price. Ordered mine a couple days ago for $225 on Amazon which is still a great price.

I would definitely try to get the price match. If you're up for the hassle, you might even consider returning it and re-ordering from the Alcatel site. FYI, Amazon is still listing it as $249.99. Interesting because, when you order from the Alcatel site at $199.99 it just takes you to your Amazon account and charges the $199.99.

Amazon's price match statement says they only price match phones sold with a service plan.

Showing up now on Amazon for $199.99. I'd been on the fence about buying one, but at this price I couldn't resist. Should have it on Friday, where it'll be compared with my Verizon HTC M7 and T-Mobile Lumia 640. Will probably swap the SIM from the Lumia to see how the Alcatel runs on TMO, or possibly try Cricket to evaluate AT&T coverage. I'm in New Orleans.

I'd been on the fence too, but $200 is too good a price tag to pass up. I'm also interested in seeing how well the antenna holds up in my interior office using Cricket. But for $200 bucks, not that big a deal of I have to go back to my Note 4.

I just got the email from Amazon customer service saying they will give me a $50 refund due to the price dropping within 7 days of purchase. That brings the price down to $175 since I used a $25 promo code.

I ordered mine yesterday through Amazon with the $25 discount code as well. How did you go about getting the refund for the $199 price? Alcatel's site is back to $249. Sure $225 is a fine price, but not as fine as $199

I went to the return and refund page, then I clicked on other return or refund issue. From there you can add the order and email Amazon customer service.

I ordered it on the 4th for $249. Called this morning explained that had I known it would have gone down to 199 I would have waited. They looked and stated that the price is currently at $249 but still met me half way with a $25 credit. Awesome service!

I waited for Prime Day sale at midnight July 15th Central Time. Didn't see any went to sleep at 1AM. Learned that it started 2AM Central Time. Anyway I missed all the good deals due to sleeping and working the whole day. So I purchased a Zenfone 2. But when I got back home from work around 11PM Amazon/Alcatel dropped the price back to $199.99 even though Prime Day Sale was all sold out. Canceled the ZF2 and snagged a Idol 3 and am very happy (well it's not for me).
