Ignoring updates

Hi, I have the Verizon S5 and I've been able to postpone the 4.4.4 update everyday since it came out. Pain in the ****, but the phone has been fine without any updates. I didn't want it to mess things up either.

Have people been able to postpone Lollipop the same way? People have said you can only postpone it three times before it is forced onto the phone. I've read too many horror stories here to even find out. I think I also read that 4.4.4 was forced on people's phones. Thanks.

It's true - the 4th time it won't ask. Root the phone and the update will fail, leaving you with the old version.

However, 4.4.4 fixes the Heartbleed bug, so if you go to secure (HTTPS) sites, and want to stay secure, that's an update you should take. LolliFlop? Not on my phone. (You'll have to use SuperSU on 4.4.2 (if the rooting method you use puts Superuser on the phone, you can uninstall it and install SuperSU) and put it into survival mode when you update to 4.4.4, so you're still rooted on 4.4.4, so you don't get LolliFlop.)

from what I've read posted by the Verizon users they have been able to postpone the update as you have. Some users take the update & do a cache clear and report things running fine and some do not. So I don't blame you for holding off.
in my opinion its third party apps that really caused the troubles and not clearing the cache after the update but that's just my opinion and I could be wrong :p
