I'm considering waiting for the Droid Turbo 2

I know it's the opposite of Nexus in terms of software support, upgrade, etc. But I'm not crazy about the hardware of the 5x, and I can't go as big as the 6p. I have a 2014 moto x right now, which I really like with the exception of a subpar camera and so-so battery life. If I could count on upgrade support for my phone, or if I'd thought to root it before upgrading to 5.1, I'd probably stay with it. I love Moto's software features that are added on to stock android. Even though Nexus now has always listening OK Google, they still miss things like the Moto X car mode, and the gesture support was removed.

Is it stupid to go with hardware I'm not crazy about just to get the Nexus experience? Or is it stupid to lock myself down to Verizon (only carrier with great signal in my area) for hardware?

I'm going to watch the reveal next week myself and see what's offered. I jumped on the Moto X Pure Edition but returned the device as I had the dreaded top speaker issue. It was a nice and solid device and think the Turbo 2 will be just as nice.

I'm on Verizon and really don't have an issue using their devices. A lot will argue about updates and bloat, etc. Not a big deal in my book as I switch devices probably two to three times a year. Granted Verizon is more expensive to some, but you sure can't beat their coverage. I'd say try the device if that's what you like and go from there.

One choice is the Nexus 6p. Love the idea of a really pure Android phone with no carrier fingerprints all over it. Frequent upgrades, and what seems to be getting generally great reviews.

There is the Turbo 2. My first Android was the Razr Max HD which I cut my teeth on after leaving Blackberry. I like Moto hardware. I'm liking the features and specs. Carrier fingerprints of course, but no carrier skin running under Nova, which I choose to use.

Then, to further complicate things, there's the LG V10. Another carrier bound OS, really great specs, and.... a removeable battery which I use all the time with my S5.

I realize it's such a first world problem, LOL. And, realistically, I could live with any of them. Heck, it's not like I'm marrying them - in a year or two I'll be off to the newest next best thing. For those of us, though, who are passionate about our phones, it's a big decision when laying out hundreds of dollars.

Time will tell - will be interested to see what you choose!

When I saw the V10, it didn't just stand out and shout me at. Granted, I am waiting to see what the final specs are (I hate "leaked" info) and see it up close. Battery life is important to me when the device has a non-removable battery, although there are plenty of power source options. The option of using MotoMaker with the T2 is a plus as well.

Same issue here. Thought the MXPE was going to be it (and may still be), but decided to wait until Tuesday and see what this brings.

I'm thinking the same way. Really hoping the Turbo 2 works best for me. But I will be comparing the dimensions, weight, price and screen brightness vs. the MXPE. If anything about the Turbo is unpalatable for me, I'll gladly order a customized MXPE pretty soon after Tuesday's reveal.

I have to remember when comparing prices that I nearly pulled the trigger on the MXPE at $580 configuration - 64 gb with the $80 accident protection. I would think an accident protection plan would be unnecessary with the 64gb Turbo 2 with the shatter guarantee and one time design refresh.
