I'm getting the Droid Incredible!!!

My company finally approved me getting a Droid Incredible! This is the only Android powered phone approved for our corporate network. I am so stoked to finally be getting rid of the BlackBerry and stepping into the world of Android. Any advice for a newbie on how to get the most out of this beast?

Have fun with your phone, it's an awesome phone and you wont be disappointed! It's crazy fast and I haven't found a phone yet that is faster than it.This might be the last phone I need to buy for a long. I've had mine since May and I still feel all excited about it every time i use it. Just like day one.

My suggestions are as follows:

Go to appbrain and start checking out apps, read forums and read up on the apps you might like, then go back to appbrain and add all the apps to it. When you get your phone you install appbrain from the market and when you run it, it will walk you through installing all the apps you have picked.

READ READ READ: lots of great info on forums.

Be prepared for poor battery life, your phone does a ton and will drain your battery because it does so much.

Highly recommend adding the android power widget (in phone from factory) to one of your screens. The power widget allows one touch control of the WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Sync and screen brightness.
if you use a screen wallpaper that is darker in color, it will save some battery life as the AMOLED display's power consumption varies deppending on the image.
if you don't want to worry about battery issues, even with heavy phone useage, go for the 2150Mah extended life battery right off the bat..it is a HUGE improvement!!
Would also recommend staying away from any task killer apps, they tend to cause more problems than they're worth, the Incredible has a very good built in app killer utility.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll admit that i'm worried a bit about battery life, but I am planning on getting the 1750 mAh battery. I'd like a bigger one, but I don't want the extra bulk.

If your thinking about the 2150, go all the way with the 3500. It's only a few dollars more. The extra bulk is not an issue. In my opinion it actually feels better in my hand. I use the phone without fear every day. No problem getting through a typical 20 hour work day.

I just got the phone today. It's on the charger so I am rife with anticipation. Unfortunately, I have a meeting that will run into the evening, so I may not get around to playing with this bad boy until tonight. Patience is a virtue, right?

I have the 1750 from Seidio, and it serves it's purpose. My work requires me to use my phone quite alot, so I typically do have it charge either through my laptop or in my vehicle throughout the day.

I came from an iPhone 3GS though, so I am used to having to charge it a bit in the middle of the work day.

I'm sure the big honkin ugly 3500mAh battery from Seidio would get even a heavy user like myself through the day without a charge, but the backplate that you have to use with that big battery is horribly designed.

I'd recommend that if you have any problems with it, especially those related to getting your work email or calendar, etc, you keep your mouth shut and look for solutions on this forum before getting your IT department involved. In my experience, IT support folks would rather put you back on a BB than figure out a new device. Also, you probably save them from having to come to this forum and find the answer anyway. The Incredible is awesome at so many things, but playing with Microsoft Exchange isn't one of them (yet). I expect with Froyo there will be fewer issues, but right now a few people I know that need to sync with Exchange are having to go to some lengths.

Other than that, make sure all of your co-workers are jealous.

Well, I'd love to make my coworkers jealous, but the VP who approved my phone asked me to keep a tight lid on it. He doesn't want a bunch of requests for the phone flooding his desk.

I have noticed that the Exchange sync is a bit painful. But the phone does so many other things, I think I can overlook this.

As mentioned above, get the Seidio 3500 battery -- even with heavy use, the battery lasts forever.

Since you're corporate, I assume you might use spreadsheets or docs on your phone. DocsToGo (paid version) is extremely useful, especially if you use Dropbox (link in my signature) to automatically sync the files between your phone and computers.

If your company is paying the bill, buy the insurance. I wish I had. The Inc is so damn useful, I worry about dropping it all the time.
