I'm having a problem receiving texts on my ZTE Android 4.0.4 smart phone. Do I need a 3rd part app?

I'm having a problem receiving texts on my ZTE Android 4.0.4 smart phone

Tech support says I should go into the Messaging App Menu and

choose Refresh Activation. I don't see this option in the messaging app. Do I need a 3rd party app from the Play Store? If so which one?

Try giving Chomp SMS or Textra a go. They are both great apps.
