I'm looking for a phone answering app to greet callers, but not take messages.

but I only want to the app to be able to record an answer message to play to the caller, and block the facility to leave a message so i can just give customers a message and they have no option to leave a message, so I do not have to look through a lot of messages that I know will all be tye same thing. Any suggestions please, free if possible

Welcome to Android Central! Which carrier do you have? Give them a call and see if there's a way to turn off your voicemail inbox, but still have a greeting message.

What about using google voice or your carrier's visual voicemail app? Yes they can still leave a VM but at least all you do is hit delete instead of dialing, punching in your code, etc. Just a thought.

Your carrier can disable the vm ability while retaining a greeting, as well as adjust the amount of rings before a call goes to vm. Good luck.

Hello, sorry taken so long to get back on this , was being a plumb and didn't realise I needed to register to answer. Thanks for answers so far. But still stuck. I'm using a note9 on and using ee, ive contacted them and no option to just leave a message

Sorry, I thought you said you wanted to remove the ability for callers to leave a message, and only wanted them to hear an outgoing recorded message from you?

Hello sorry yes I wrote that wrong, I meant only me leave a message for my callers and them not be able too. Sorry my bad. All I can find is apps that seem to take over all of my calls , so all calls go through the app rather than just an answerphone which would be ideal

Yes I did call the and request if the voicemail could only record a message and was told no. There is no option to remove the ability to leave a message, which will cost me to retrieve and will take up my time checking. Apparently ee don't offer that option .

Did you already try turning off your voicemail as outlined in the URL I shared in post no. 10?

Sorry missed that, I hVe the voicemail off because it will cost me to listen to messages and money is tight. It is usually not a problem to answer calls as we dont get many , most business information is on our Facebook page. But in these unprecedented times I am still cloaee because of covid 19 and am receiving far more calls than usual, each time it is the same question, "are you open ?" And I just want ti leave a mesaage saying due to my elderly mother living on the site we feel safer closed. Ee say they cannot help their answerphone service will always leave the option of leaving a message , which will cost me to listen to , hoping for a free app to cover the problem poasibly but can't see a dedicated a answerphone app that does not manage the whole call process
