so.. these new IHO builds are confusing the hell out of me...

which ones are the best

JerryScript BACKside (not pure)
BobZhome CM7.1RC1-BobZ
mrg666 IHO-CM7.1RC1

?? mrg's seems to be the latest...

are these all the same base rom with tweaks?? or whats going on here im so confused... with ASOP and ath3nos it was a straight shot.. this works this doesnt.. these are 3 separate roms?? or what??

whats all working on these.. custom ringtones i hope?? and Groove IP??

also can someone give me a list of kernels to use with these..

And tell me the pluses and minuses with the people who have used these so I can narrow it down to which one is best..

Ath3nos is just pissing me off right now all i get are freezes frome time to time entering a pin for my lockscreen lags like hell and can freeze my phone.. i just want a working rom.. no hassle.. this is not what i signed up for..

thanks..

The IHO roms are pretty self explanitory in their descriptions, everything works for the most part, might have a glitch here and there, but they aren't official gb builds so you just have to deal with it. Take some time to read the opening page and the wiki, if you 'want a hassle free rom go back to stock, otherwise read and fallow directions and your questions will be answered. Ath3nos is basically an unupdated virsion of IHO, try it and if something doesn't work, report it, just don't complain, these are open source projects so glitches and bugs are what you signed up for. These devs don't owe you anything, or haven't promised you anything so get over it

I am running mrg666 IHO-CM7.1RC1 atm and I have to say I am impressed that everything works and the battery life isn't all that bad compared to AOSP & Ath3nos both I have used. One of the main things I liked is now I can use my BT headset to listen to all my phone audio and still answer a call with it. My Wiimote works fine and GrooveIP has been working fine making and receiving calls. I can't say anything about Kernels since I haven't even bothered to try on that end.

All the builds are based on the same source repository (IHO). Even Ath3nos, which was just a really early version. some of the builds are more up-to-date because of minor changes in the CM7 base. Otherwise they're minor tweaks.

custom ringtones & groove IP works on all of the 3 updated ROMs.

There's no need to flash separate kernels, they come with a kernel that made specifically for the ROM and it's very good.

They are all the same base ROM with seperate tweaks. I'm pretty sure that JerryScript's is pure with a theme on top, BobZhome's uses launcherpro as the stock launcher and also uses the v6 supercharger sript, and mrg's is completely pure. I've been thinking about flashing over BobZHome's version.

Edit: I too, however, think it would be a good idea for them to put up some of the main differences on the Github Wiki. Currently it's very hard to figure out what they are.

This is not the droid you are looking for then....

Seriously not what you signed up for? Please explain that to me.

If you take the time to read and read some more, then when your think your done finish the thread you will have a better understanding of the various builds.
Im not saying it isnt confusing and it wouldnt be nice to have a more defined idea of which rom does what and has what. But reading the thread will give you pretty much all the information you need and are asking us to TL;DR for you.

BACKside rom is pure build with bugfixes.

Bobzhomes build is custom as it includes different launcher and some tweaking scripts.

mgr666 is a pure as the driven snow from the IHO repositories.

Nobody here can tell you any of these roms wont be hassle free or worry free. If we did we would be lying. That goes for ANY of the roms for this phone including stock.

The best thing to do is have tons of patience and try each rom until you get one that works for you. Im not saying try each and every rom just pick one try it. If you dont like it move to the next, if you like the first one you flash good on you.

well just flashed bobz.. and i did mrg's before that.. Wifi took awhile to work that was weird.. it wasent working before and now it is. I opted for bobz because of the tweaks and such :)

Agreed, whole-heartedly. That thread is dozens of pages now and growing. It would really beneficial to have an explanation right in the first post.

im curious live wallpapers slow down our phones right??

i think thats whats been freezing it

thoughts?

Edit: Yup that Lightning live wallpaper was the cause.. buggy as hell i guess never thought that would have been the case so now im on the starfield one.. nice and simple and cool looking..

So, which one would you say is the fastest with the best battery life?
That is a loaded question.

I get good battery with Jerry's build. But it works for me so I havent tried the other builds.
Also each rom will vary slightly on each persons phone. Even on your own phone. A completely controlled test would have to be done and that is something not done.

With IHO/CM roms if your not getting at least 10 hours of battery with average use you need to start checking apps.

From what i have seen, most of them aren't very different, just a few minor things. Almost all of which will have little to no effect on speed or battery. It may, but not enough to really determine without a benchmark tool, except maybe Bobs with the V6 tweak.

Most are just a matter of pushing out the latest changes.
