Ok. My brother unlocked my Gnex on his Mac in 3 minutes but he couldn't root it. I'm home using my Windows PC trying to root this POS. I've tried Wugs, Toolkit v7.0, Gnex Root Toolkit v1.4, and I can't do squat.

Any suggestions, please? I'm at the end of my friggin rope trying to root my device. All I need to do is root. It IS unlocked.

Thanks.

Fastboot flash clockwork mod recovery.

You can either flash it or boot it temporarily.

Then flash the SU.zip--the new 4.0.4 one in the MAC GUIDE thread.

Rooted :).

Find your adb and fastboot files. They are in your sdk/toolkit folder (or near it) if you installed the sdk, or sitting somewhere around the tools you downloaded and tried to use before. Search windows and find them. Whatever folder they are in, stick this file into that folder as well:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/47300967/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-toro.img

And copy this to your phone, on the root of the sd card (meaning not in any folder, just on the sd card):
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/47300967/su404.zip

Now boot your phone into the bootloader (power off, the hold BOTH volume buttons and power until you see the bootloader screen). Plug it into the computer.

Back in that folder with all those files.. hold SHIFT and right click anywhere inside the folder, then select Open command window here.

In the command window type:

fastboot devices

This should bring up the a long serial number for your device. If it doesn't or says something else, hold off and let me know exaclty what it says. If it does, then continue:

fastboot boot recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-toro.img

This will bring you into CWM recovery. From there click Install Zip from sd card, scroll to the su404 file you moved there before, and flash that bastard.

Back out, hit reboot, and profit.

Where do I type "fastboot devices?" It says "C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Desktop\ADB"

Did you mistype that on here... or are you entering the command with that question mark? If so, take the question mark out...

Hold on lol. I'm an obvious idiot when it comes to this. Let's back up. I don't lnow where to type that command.

You advised to hold SHIFT and right click, then select Open command window here, then type fast boot. This is where I'm totally and completely lost. I see no space to type. Yu're doing a great job explaining this to me, but is there a webpage for total dumbasses like me? I'd love to get this done tonight; hell, I'd paypall you $20 to make this work. I've invested over 16 hours into this process and I'm spent!!!

fastboot devices
Then hit enter......

get me on gtalk...

All,

dmmarck and 2defmouze, 2 AC members, both spent over 2 hours with me installing my drivers and rooting my Gnex by remotely accessing my computer and getting the job done. Typically I'm accostomed to just getting advice, but these 2 guys went above and beyond in the way they helped me.

I can't say enough about the enormous help they were to me. I would've been screwed if it weren't for their patience and persistence. Thanks guys. You deserve public recognition for the huge favor you both did for me.

These 2 guys and others have helped me out on many a time, I was able to unlock and root with WUGS but when I have a problem/issue they are my gurus for the GNX, its what keeps the AC family together.
