Images downloaded from chrom don't show up in gallery after latest android 10 update

Hi, recently I found out that when I download images from chrome they no longer show up in the gallery. I get the notification that the download is complete but the images don't show up in the gallery or in the my files app. I checked to see if chrome has access to my storage and it does so that is not the issue. I also deleted the cache and data for the chrome and gallery app and restated the phone and that didn't work either. I'm at a lost here did anyone else have this problem. Any help is appreciated thank you. Btw I have the Galaxy A20 if that is of any relevance

Make sure storage permissions on in chrome and in chrome settings under downloads tap on top the gear icon it says download location to download instead sd card

Welcome to Android Central! What directory is the image downloading to? I just tried it on my Pixel 3 XL, and the image was saved to the /Download directory. Use a file manager to confirm that's where your images are saving to. Also use the file manager to see if there's a .nomedia file in that directory as well, because that would instruct the system to ignore that directory when scanning for images to add to the gallery database.
