iMessage app to use on a Galaxy S4 mini

I was wondering if there is an app that I can use to send and receive texts from an iPad Air2 to a Galaxy S4 Mini.
The wife just got an iPad Air2 and I have my Galaxy S4 Mini and we would like to communicate while out of town.

iMessage is a closed system, you won't find an Android app that interfaces with the protocol.

If your wife has a Google account, you can both use Hangouts though.
