Import SMS/MMS history into Hangouts?

I tried using MyBackupPro to backup my SMS, MMS, and Phone logs from my Nexus 4 and then import (restore) them into the Nexus 5. Phone logs came over just fine, but I still can't see the SMS/MMS history in Hangouts.

Any thoughts as to how this can be done? It's not really important to me, but I would like to know if it is at least doable.

Okay, turns out that Rerware has a new beta of MyBackup Pro which solves this problem. I sent email to support@rerware.com, they quickly replied with a link to the beta and instructions.

The big difference is that MyBackup Pro can back up MMS as well as SMS messages. The other app, SMS Backup & Restore, does SMS only.

Does anyone know an app that's compatible with Windows 7.8 phones? It would be great to transfer all my call logs/sms to my Nexus 5.

I'd like to help you out, but not sure if I should. The link they sent to me also included an activation code which may or may not have been specific to me.

When I requested assistance using the email link above, I received a reply literally within minutes. Perhaps I was just lucky...

I emailed support, and told them the previous versions weren't working with 4.4. I asked for a link to the beta version I "heard" about and they sent it, minus an activation code. I replied telling them that I was using the free version, and had no prior activation code. They responded telling me I had to wait until this version was fully released.

I got the APK download link from them and installed it, but no change for me. I still can't see my SMS/MMS messages in hangouts on the Nexus 5 ...

Of course, the only people I know who have this incessant need to delete messages are all 50+. I still don't get it

Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Hangouts and hit the Clear Data button. Restart your phone, then open Hangouts again. Everything should appear.

To me its not even a choice, its just a logical ongoing conversation and I like being able to go back and read old messages when I have to.

To each his own, but that's how I operate.

Tried the app, and also had to contact them. It worked with the beta app (necessary because it needs to temporarily set itself as *the* SMS app in 4.4). Thank you, N4Newbie, for sharing how you did it.

As a heads up, when the messages were ported the group messages were split into separate threads.
