In Mallorca with my Galaxy 1900s - receive calls, data roaming off

Hi everybody! I am in Mallorca with my Galaxy. I have wifi occasionally, but use my iPad for web search etc. I don't seem to have received any phone calls, and wonder if I have something inadvertently switched off that I should leave on.
I have unchecked boxes for data roaming and packet data. Is there anything I should have on to receive calls? I don't mind paying the Vodafone charges to receive and make calls but I don't want to get lumbered with the ?3 a day roaming charges.
I've searched for similar questions, but don't fully understand the replies as I am quite elderly, so please be kind to your granny...

Also, there is a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it on the top of the display - does anyone know what that means?

Welcome to AC!!

You should just test. Use a friend's phone to call your phone, if it rings, you are fine, if not, something is wrong.
