In my Note 5, GMail refreshes only when the charger is connected. why?

Whether it is WiFi or Mobile Data, the gmail app in my note 5 doesn't refreshes / i don't receive mails until the phone is connected with the charger.

Check to see if Power Saving is active and enabled for Gmail. If it is, then Gmail (or almost any app) won't sync on battery power.
