Inc hits the sweet spot hardware wise... but software?? well...

Just wanted to point out that I just picked up the Droid Inc, and Ive owned the droid 1, played with the DX for about a month, owned the Fascinate, and then came to the INC and im not looking back.

BUT.... I've never had software issues, or rooting issues on my phones except for this one. First the youtube app does not open, ever!!

Secondly, and more important, after rooting with unrevoked3. I tried to backup my stock rom but can't seem to get myself booted into recovery. Ive tried using ROM manager, and the manual way. I just get stuck at the white HTC screen, I left it there for about 10min once and still no luck!

so long story short, can anyone suggest something I can try to reboot in recovery? I really want to back this stock rom and get others installed.

there's only one way with a stock Inc.

power down. reboot holding the power button and the vol. down button until your recovery screen comes on.

or you can use ROM Manager (from the Market) to boot into recovery.

I downloaded the "FreeTube" app and that caused FC errors with the stock YouTube app. Deleted FreeTube and everything else went back to normal.

If ROM manager also can't get into recovery, I'm not sure what the problem is. The above instructions should work.

does work... when i hold the power and vol i get three pulse vibrates and nothing...black screen...held buttons for 2min... nothing nada!! this phone sucks software wise!!

Is it a new phone? Like with the new screen? Clockwork recovery can't be seen on unless your screen is amoled. There are aimed discussions about it over at xda.

That sounds like the phone going into the factory troubleshooting mode.

Pull the USB cable out, pull the battery and reinstall, then try holding the volume down and power button again. That should get you to the hboot screen. Don't try this with the USB cable in...it's a hit or miss whether it goes into troubleshooting mode or not with it in.

Let it do its thing...it's looking for an update.zip or a pb31.zip...make sure there's not one in the root of your SD drive...then use the volume key to highlight "recovery." Hit the power button and you should be good to go.

I've run Skyraider, Virtuous, and now Myn's latest...it's not the software.

wow I think you might have nailed it... I do have a new phone, and it does have the new screen... So whats the workaround? Just flash ROMS and run backups blind?

I found these threads for getting CWM to work on your phone. I don't have the SLCD though so I can't give you any tips of my own. People are saying that Amon_Ra recovery will work for you as well. Good luck though.

Im going to be trying the fix on post#5 of this link... I think it should work for me and anyone with SLCD incredibles.
