Incoming Call issue

I have an issue I haven't heard anything about before. Whenever i get an incoming call it will ring but only about 2 or 3 seconds then stop ringing and the call disappears to a black screen. I have about enough time to pick up the phone before it stops. It was never like that before and I haven't changed my ringtone or anything in the sound settings. Anyone have a clue what might be causing this? I am on AT&T and running stock everything except launcher which also hasn't changed in a very long time.

First, your not running stock everything if your using a Samsung phone. Samsung does not run stock Android!
Maybe you have your voicemail set to only ring a few time's. Hope that helps...

I took it to mean that they are running stock (as in what came on the phone originally) everything, with the exception of the launcher app.
Hopefully, the OP will return and tell which of us is correct.

What steps have you tried to correct this issue?
Soft reset, hard reset, clearing phone app cache, then data, clearing phone cache partician?

Samsung's variant of Android use to be at least is/was TouchWiz. Some of the Samsung phones have just recently got Android 10 when Pixel got it last August. It's my understanding the delay from the manufacturer being getting the OS stable to their phones ie. TouchWiz. I personally liked TouchWiz when I used Samsung phones, but it isn't or at least wasn't stock Android. I prefer stock Android to TouchWiz which is the reason I now use a Pixel phone. I like the regular updates both software enhancements and security.
So..a newer phone running Android 10 could have a unique problem to TouchWiz vs stock Android ie. the reason for my wording.
I would be interested to see if the OP of this thread finds relief of the issues he or she is having in order to maybe help others with similar issues in the future.

The OP did not mention replacing the original Samsung firmware with "stock android".
This is a Note 9 forum. Everyone assumes the phone has TouchWiz / One UI, unless otherwise stated.
Why even discuss it?

Sorry. I did reply to this but it seems my reply has disappeared or didn't post for some reason. By stock I meant as in out of the box. No mods or rooting. I use youmail for voicemail but haven't changed any settings on that.

I have tried just about everything above except safe mode. If I make an outgoing call to someone it seems to fix the incoming call issue but as soon as the phone restarts for any reason it reverts back to hanging up after 2 or 3 seconds. Hard to test safe mode as it restarts the phone when going into safe mode so naturally it would work anyway. The only phone related app I use is YouMail for voicemail and I see no settings related to number or duration of rings. Also it doesn't send the callers to vm after 2 or 3 seconds it actually ends the call.

I would try uninstalling the YouMail app for as long as you can stand, to see if it is causing the issue.
If you can't get by without YouMail, try clearing its app data.

Okay. I'll try that for a couple days and see what happens and let you know.
