Incoming Call not waking screen after taken out of pocket

Hi. I am running a stock GPE M8. I don't remember this happening on my GPE M7 and tried a variety of settings with no luck.

If the phone is in my pocket and a call comes in, I take it out of my pocket and the screen remains off. So I have to press the power button or double tap the screen to get it to turn off... often leading to an accidental hang up.

Is this right? Or I am missing something.
