Inconsistent fingerprint sensor

I use the same finger in multiple setups. So, where it says finger 1 I scan my index. Finger 2 I scan my index again in different ways and places. That way you are increasing the margin of error for finger placement.

Is there a way to improve the fingerprint recognition performance? Very undependable.

No. It sucks. Samsung threw away a superb FPS that was on the S9, and gave in to the mobs of "journalists" who "demanded" something "all new" instead.

This is what I do, as well. I find that my fingerprint usually works well but if there's a bit of sweat on my hands or if they're a wee hit wet, that will of course make a difference.

Removing the screen protector is also quite helpful.

Use the best available fingerprint reader
Train users to place the finger correctly on the fingerprint scanner
Capture multiple images of the same finger
Capture only best fingerprints and discard not so good ones
Always capture multiple fingerprints.

I apologize to everyone. I intended to post in the Galaxy s10e forum. Do you want to move the subject over there, or continue here?

Just that, as we all know, the sensor is in the power button, not on the screen :)

I didn't realize something like that was available. Can you recommend one?

Haha! Yes, it's in the power button. A very innovative feature that I would have loved to try. :)

my primary finger I do twice, once with and once without a case. two other slots are for my thumb and left index.
