Increase notification volume

When I receive a text or email, the notification sound is so faint I usually don't hear it. Is there a way to increase the volume on notifications that doesn't also increase the ringer volume?

I could be wrong, but I think they coincide with one another. I do know what you mean though, so my suggestion and what I do is pick a louder notification sound that will be heard as loud as the ringer.
