Incredible contacts disappearing?

I know there are a few threads about this but none of them seem to happen under the same circumstances as mine. For some reason my contacts just disappear. And it always seems to be the same people. Here's what makes my problem different from the others - I don't sync my phone. At all. I don't sync my contacts with anything on my PC and I even stopped linking contacts via Twitter and Facebook thinking that was the problem but sure enough it's still happening.

Does anyone else have this problem? The numbers themselves will stay in my SMS log, but the names, pictures, and remaining info is completely gone and I'm left guessing who it was I texted.

Go online and see if that contact is still in your gmail. That will tell you if your phone is deleting the contact or if its just "disappearing" from your phone. That way you know what to b*tch to VZW about

That's the thing, I don't have anyone saved to my gmail account. There's no one there, all I have are the phone contacts.

That might be the problem. Why not enable gmail sync and see if that fixes it?

Could it be that those contacts have both a name and business name to the entry? I've noticed that if I have ABC plumbing, it shows as just that. But, if "John Doe" is the name associated with the business name, I can't search it under ABC anymore.

Stinks.

Have you looked at your settings? People/Menu/View and make sure you have the correct view options checked.

Yeah I have them set to show everything, even the Gmail contacts. And the way I have my contacts set up they're all people with a first and last name, even the businesses. So I have no idea what's going on but I dread the day I add someone that I don't text for that contact to just completely vanish.

The ones that disappear, are they gmail contacts? Have you checked to see if they're still in the contacts list online? I have a feeling that its the non Google contacts and of you just synced everything it would stop. I've never heard of anyone who was syncing ota to Google or any other service losing contacts.

Another way to check is to go into the people or favorites widget and try to add that person to a group. My phone has been acting up today, and a few people in my contacts aren't being displayed but they're still in there.

Yeah, since like Feb I've had the Eris, and getting an incredible next week so my gf can have this phone. She still has a storm 1 LOL
