Incredibly dumb Contacts picture question

As the title suggests, I come bearing a (most likely) pretty dumb question with a simple solution, but I've yet to find it.

When choosing a contact's photo, how the hell do you resize that photo or choose only certain parts of it to be used as the contact's picture (cropping, I guess I'm saying)? Most of my contacts' pictures look awful because they're so tiny you can't even see who is in the picture...well, barely. In Handcent it looks pretty much just as small (because it uses the contacts' photo which I set up in the Contacts screen). I'd just like to be able to edit the photo I choose to make the person in the photo more viewable. Surely I don't have to resize every photo on my PC first, then put them in back in my phone, right? Right? :-\

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Still new to Android, from BB.

If you click the edge of the square frame, it'll let you change the size. Just press the edge and drag.

Thank you for the response! :)

I know what you're talking about, but the orange squares do not come up when you're editing a contact's photo. I'm just going into the regular contacts app (I guess it's part of motoblur? not sure), going to a contact, say, "Mom". Then it shows all her information, right? In the upper left hand corner there's a photo (or a place for a photo if you haven't added one yet). That's the photo I'm talking about. So I hit the menu button and go to "edit". Now, when you click the upper left-hand photo an option comes up to "Use existing photo", which I click, and then I go to "Files". I navigate to my photo, select it, and then POOF! No option to use the orange squares at all, no resizing, no NOTHING. It just selects the photo as is and then brings me back to the contact edit screen. :-\

Does yours not do this?

Because of it doing this, the people in the pictures are quite tiny and hard to recognize even sometimes, depending on the picture.

Oh....are you kidding me? Wow. I was selecting "File" instead of "Gallery" at that step. Why should that make a difference? I don't get it, but it works. Can't thank you enough, seriously!! This was driving me crazy... :-[
