Individual app notification sounds

Hello,

Maybe I'm just noticing this now and it's been like this for a while, but I just noticed that I can't change the notification sound for individual apps anymore. I still have some apps that give individual notification sounds but there doesn't seem to be a way to change them or to set them up for new apps. When I go into settings, whether it's through notifications or the settings for the individual app there just seems to be a way to turn sounds on or off but no way to choose the sound. How can I choose the notification sound for each individual app? I was able to do this in nougat with no problem, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it in oreo. Thanks.

That's up to the app developer. If the developer puts a choice of notification tones into the app's settings, it's there, if not it isn't.

I think it is an Oreo thing. I have a Huawei P10 Plus running Oreo. I've only looked at Twitter & Outlook so far- Twitter no longer has any option to select notification tone & Outlook still has the option but clicking it only takes you to the phones notification settings where there is no option to select which tone you want.

I am absolutely pissed off with this! Why would they change it?!

Twitter still has notification sounds you can pick. It is not in the twitter settings any more as Oreo moved them.

Phone settings > general > apps & notifications > notifications > apps > twitter > "..."

Oh, I see. One app stopped making sounds. Maybe the app updated and they took away that feature.

I just checked another app and it has settings for customized sounds.

As ManiacJoe says, it could also be moved to Settings/General/Apps & Notifications/App Notifications/<the particular app>

My settings aren't laid out like that. It would be Settings>Apps>{specific app}>Notifications.

Or Settings>General Management, which only contains a few settings regarding language and time zone.

I can also go to Settings>Notifications>{specific app} but it just takes me to the same place that the first route takes me.

It's also weird that sometimes the notification will have the old sound associated with it, but usually it doesn't. But it's as if sometimes the notification will go through the old route and access the old sound file.
