Individualize Notifications

Is there a way to separate out notifications? For example, every time I plug in my X into my laptop through USB, it makes a sound. If I turn off notifications, that goes away, but then I don't here when I have a new txt message for example. And on a side note, even when notifications are on I don't receive a sound for incoming email messages...

every app that has notifications usually have custom notification setting that pertain to that app in particular. for example, your gmail notifications have settings for notification tone, vibrate, etc, and those are specifically for the gmail app. if your notifications are silent in your global settings, you wont get a notification from any app.

if you want to not have a notification sound when you plug your phone into your computer while leaving your other ones on, go to menu>settings>sound and uncheck the "sd card notifications" box.
