Q: What are the new plans?
A: The new no-contract Beyond Talk plans will start at $35/month for unlimited messaging/data and 300 minutes of talk time effective July 20. Still providing the greatest value for an Android Plan in the marketplace with or without a contract, the unlimited messaging, data and talk plan is available for $55.

Q: When are the new plan prices going into effect?
A: Wednesday, July 20, 2011
Q: Who will be impacted by these new offers?
A: New Virgin Mobile Beyond Talk customers as of July 20, 2011 ? new customers will be activated on the new rate plans while existing Beyond Talk customers [those who sign on before midnight July 19] will be grandfathered on their current plans.

Q: Why are you introducing new plans?
A: Like most major carriers, we?ve seen data usage in particular increase significantly over the past few months as we?ve added smartphones, and we are taking steps to ensure customers continue to enjoy unlimited data while using Virgin Mobile, without overages or a contract.

Smartphone penetration within the pre and post paid markets has grown exponentially with mobile data traffic increasing to match. Virgin Mobile is committed to providing its customers a great wireless experience now and in the future. We have a commitment to deliver top of the line smartphones to our customers without a contract at attractive prices and remain focused on offering the best value in wireless.

Q: Will BlackBerry users still incur an additional $10/month fee?
A: No, under our new plans BlackBerry customers will have no additional monthly cost. Current BlackBerry customers on the $50 and $70 plans can change over to the new $45 and $55 plans to get the same service for less money. New BlackBerry customers will now utilize the same plans as all other Beyond Talk Virgin Mobile customers.

Q: Where can I get more details?
A: On July 20, 2011, the Virgin Mobile website will be updated with the new price information and Terms of Service will be revised to reflect the changes.

Q: What happens if I?m on an ?old? Beyond Talk plan that isn?t included in the new price structure?
A: As of July 20th, 2011, existing Virgin Mobile customers will be grandfathered into the $25, $40 and $60 Beyond Talk plans. Grandfathered customers can keep these plans as long as they don?t change plans or let their accounts expire. They can even upgrade to new Android-powered devices without incurring additional costs.

Q: What if I?m on an older plan or handset with Virgin Mobile?
A: Whatever plan you may be on, including those introduced prior to Beyond Talk [which launched in 2010], are grandfathered unless they choose to change plans or their current accounts expire.

Q: Are you making any changes to your Broadband2Go plans?
A: No, we are not making any changes to our Broadband2Go plans at this time.

Q: Will the Motorola Triumph fall under the new plan structure?
A: Yes, the Motorola Triumph will be the first Virgin Mobile handset that becomes available on the new plan structure so new customers will be using the new plans with the Triumph. [Of course, new customers going forward, regardless of handset, will be on the new plans.]

Q: If I am a current Virgin Mobile customer on Beyond Talk, and I upgrade to a Triumph, which plan structure will be applicable?
A: If you become a Virgin Mobile customer before July 20, 2011, on any Beyond Talk handset, you are on the original price structure. Going forward, it doesn?t matter what handset you choose; the original price structure will remain intact if you were a customer before July 20, 2010 as long as you keep paying for your monthly plan, and don?t let your account expire.

Q: So with new smartphones, Virgin Mobile will be increasing its prices now?
A: Virgin Mobile and all carriers make changes to plan structures throughout the year to remain competitive and remain in a position to offer our customers the best service we can. Note that in this case, we have lowered the price of our unlimited Beyond Talk plan from $60/month to $55. At $25 or $35 per month, Beyond Talk plans still provide the best1 Android offer in the market, prepaid or postpaid.

Q: But aren?t Virgin Mobile phones so much more expensive?
A: Yes, but no-contract wireless service is still a better deal in many cases. Even with the cost of the handset, the overall savings for customers can be as high as $1,200 or more, along with the flexibility of being able to change your plans and handsets at your convenience.

Do you know what the source is for this q&a?

It seems like we can get a Triumph on the old rates but I keep seeing on other forums that the CS rep for Virgin Mobile is saying new phones will be changed over to the new rates regardless which as me worried.

Its been posted everywhere by vm, that you can get a new phone and keep your old plan

I am already on vm with optimus, so does that mean I keep paying the same? Because he says that old customers get grandfathered in but is that true?

I called virgin mobile about activating my Triumph, and they said they couldn't until the 20th. I asked if I would still be on the old pricing if I did that, and they said that any NEW customers after the 20th will be charged the new prices. Anybody who has ever had a virgin mobile phone before July 20th, 2011 will be charged old prices.

Yea, but here's my question:
I'm on the $25 plan ... but on busy months, I sometimes bump up to the $40 plan for 1 month and then go back to the $25 the next month....
Will I still be able to do that or do I go to the $45/$35 price the next time I need to bump up?

Nothing mentioned about the changes to the data part of these plans or am I blind?

the 40$ plan wont exist. you could go to the 45, but then when you swap back the 25$ plan wont exist. so youll have to go to the 35

You'll be stuck on your current plan, forever. As long as you don't change it or let it expire.
