As I plan to pick this phone up when it comes out I have been obsessively scouring for news on this. Pocketnow found it on the FCC's site:
Samsung Infuse 4G Passes FCC With AT&T Bands
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas...lledFromFrame=N&application_id=705382&fcc_id=

I opened up the same image that was on pocket now, took a screen print and did a little math to figure out the size. Since we have the dimension of 5mm in the picture I extrapolated this out. Here's what I got:

Phone in picture: 562 x 300 pixels

5mm = 22 pixels to inside of lines, 24 pixels including the lines.

562/24*5=117mm
300/24*5=62.5mm

562/22*5=127mm
300/22*5=68mm

I calculated for both using the inside of the 5mm line and also including the lines. I believe from my high school drafting days that the measurements should include the line when factoring the size, but the size appears to be too too small when using 24 pixels = 5mm.
For a comparison the Captivate is this size:
121x64x10mm

Calculating the size of the screen alone for 4.5", the width and length of the screen would be:
2.32" x 3.86"
or
98mm x 59mm

The calculations including the lines couldn't be possible as the bezel would have to be only around 2mm which wouldn't be enough.
Excluding the lines from the calculations the bezel would be around 5mm on each size which seems possible.
It may be that the image is without the cover as well and that would add a few mm too.
Either way if the image is actually to scale it seems that the infuse won't be much bigger then the captivate. I guess we will see soon enough.

One other thing I picked out of this, the Captivate came out 37 days after hitting the FCC, if the same would hold for the Infuse which it wouldn't have to the release date would be April 17th.

OK, way to much effort, time to do something more productive, hopefully this will help someone else from wasting time with calculations.

disturbingly, I did something very similar, using the stock Samsung photo and assuming a diagonal screen size of exactly 4.5". The results come out very close to 127 x 68 mm.

I thought about doing this, then thought better of it. I appreciate your effort though.

That's some good info

If you are correct. That's extremely close to the dimensions of the inspire, which would be really great. I thought of getting the inspire until I read about the camera quality from owners. So I decided to wait for the infuse. To be sure, I really like the feel of the inspire and am a little concerned about the infuse being just a hair over the line for comfortable overall size.

I could have sworn I read on another site they were changing the screen size to 4.3? I may be wrong, I tried but couldn't find that review..I'm excited about the phone though.

I saw somewhere else about a rumor of a smaller size screen too. I think that is all it is, the phone was demoed at CES, viewed behind glass at CTIA, and on AT&T's own site under comming soon it is listed as 4.5". I don't think there is any chance it is anything other then 4.5".

I see, it looks to me like Engadget might have made a mistake with their wording, when they say:
"the Infuse steps down from 4.5 to 4.3 inches"
I think they mean GS2 steps down, especially since the article is about the GS2.
I'm positive it's 4.5" as I'm sure this page wouldn't be up otherwise:
