Infuse vs. Atrix

So I'm switching to AT&T next week and although I'd like to wait for the Galaxy S2, I have to choose then. So I've narrowed it down to the Atrix 4G and the Infuse 4G. I've heard that the Atrix, although a dual core, is still laggy (if the lag is only due to MotoBlur and removing it makes it faster, please tell me) and for some reason I don't really like Motorola. Then there's the Infuse which has Samsung's hummingbird processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and I know that this one of the best single core processors.

Which one has the better hardware? I know that Motorola most likely has a better build.

Which one will be upgraded the fastest?

Which one won't be obsolete the quickest?

Which one do you think has the better battery life?

Thanks.

heh. I just posted a similar question :]. I can answer one question for you, I'm pretty sure the infuse will get outdated the quickest, simply because of the lack of dual-core. While their aren't many dual-core phones out now, it is the future.

It really is a difficult decision, because honestly I think Samsung outshines Motorola (along with many others) hardware wise, but I'm being forced into getting a phone earlier. The only problem I have with the Atrix is basically because it is the first dual-core and I know a lot of better dual-core phones are coming within the next few months. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the atrix, but I'm ridding it of motoblur.

Samsung and motorola have excellent build quality screen quality goes to samsung but internals go to motorola. until i play with the infuse im going to say tie as they are both great hardware wise.

Motorola, but with the new coalition google started at the I/O conference samsung might be timely with the infuse.

If your a person who only upgrades every 2 years then you might want to side with the atrix as the dual core is not yet optimized but most likely will be. but the infuse will be strong for a while and it will all depend on if we see real dual core optimization in ice cream sandwich or not.

Which one do you think has the better battery life?

honestly im going to say around tie, both are "4g", the atrix has dual core which doesnt help battery and the infuse has a huge screen so they both have a good way to chew through power.

Thanks.

The infuse was not created to compete with the atrix (galaxy s2 was). The atrix is better in every way other than the fact that the infuse allows sideloading out of the box-but rooting the Atrix is simple.

I'm quite curious about this as well. I want one or the other to hold me over until the SG2 comes out. Perhaps a thread should be made in the atrix section as well to get non-biased opinions.

actually dual core is less intensive on batteries than single core...

Really? My atrix lasts 30 hours or more with moderate to even high use. Facebook, texts, phone calls, web browsing, and even some games

No kidding? I couldn't get more than 6 hours on a full charge under -very- moderate use. I got a replacement battery thinking mine was bad, but no change. I wish I could figure out why there is such a discrepancy. Frustrating.

old skool moto yes.

the atrix, NO. multiple atrix issues exist from poor quality control of moto atrix components.

wait for galaxy s2

What makes the S2 better? I'm going for the Infuse, partly because it has a 4.5" screen. Are there any other key differences between the two besides screen and single v dual core?

Thanks...

Don't think so. Processor, as you noted, is different. Think GSII will be running TouchWiz 4.0 and Gingerbread though... Heard it'll be priced at $299, versus the Infuse for $170 (with coupon) from Costco. And who knows when it'll hit the States.

Well the difference in processors is a good enough reason to choose the S2 over the infuse, because the S2, from what I've seen, flies. It also has 1080p recording, a 2MP front facing camera, and I believe that it comes with TouchWiz 4.0 (compared to 3). Eventually, after dual-core processors are optimized in Android, there will even be a larger difference in speed, or so I am told.

Just went to go see the Infuse today.. and it wasn't even out on display!!! They brought it out when I got there and turned it on for me and literally shut off before I could touch a button. Ironically the AT&T staff was wearing the Infuse 4G t-shirts, but they knew nothing about it and didn't even care to put it out. Needless to say I left..

On topic, we all see how many problems people are having with the Atrix right now. When dual cores are more popular and they can be fully optimized is when I will buy one. For now I am good with single core. The Infuse has the 1.2 GHz processor so speed probably won't be an issue.

Congrats! :D

Do you have plans to root it at some point? Or it's all good for now? I ordered mine from amazon.com last night. Should be delivered Tuesday or Wednesday... I am psyched!

im always in a mixed boat on rooting as i have great and poor experiences i had a rooted incredible that was flawless and a rooted captivate that gave me nothing but headaches so we shall see on what roms come out if there is a vanilla gingerbread rom for it then i will root in a heartbeat! but i need my phone to work 24/7 as i use it for work and need to be reached so i can't have it restarting on me randomly. So i will have to keep an eye out for stable roms.

im still playing with it as im tweaking all my apps reinstalling everything just finished setting up launcher pro. so we will see if i try a different launcher or just some custom skins lol.

sadly the card it comes with is only 2 gb so i will be ordering a class 10 32gb this week soon as i decide on a brand.

I plan on rooting regardless but that is what I want most :). Vanilla Gingerbread *drools*

I went into the AT&T coperate store on Sunday and didnt even have to see a display. The guy walked up to me, told him what I wanted and how I wanted it to happen and he came back with the Infuse in the Box. Didnt even look at it. I already know Samsungs Quality and there was enough reviews out there for me to jump on it. I was joking around with the guy cause they all had those Samsung Infuse shirts on also. I asked him yeah maybe Ill take one of those to. He goes we got an extra one in the back so I can probably hook you up. But we kept talking and I totally forgot about it lol. I was more excited for the phone :)
