Infuse weird texting issue

Hello All-

My Infuse can receive SMS, send MMS, but NOT send SMS. An error appears when I hit send, something like 'Text message failed to send etc.'. I can send MMS, and receive both MMS and SMS, but not send SMS.

I've hard reset the phone about 30 times, reinstalled the operating system via Odin about 40 times, and am at my wits' end.

I've found several threads dealing with a similar issue, but no finite solutions. Anyone have any idea at all?

Sidenote: after pressing the *#*#info#*#* in the dialer, I am no longer able to switch the phone to GSM only... where last week I was able to. Now... it just stays on the GSM/WCDMA preferred or whatever the default.

I'm not rooted, rom'd, or anything but stock at all. When this issue started (yesterday morning before last) NOTHING had changed from the previous evening when the phone worked fine-- I didn't even install a new app in the interim. Just got off the phone with AT&T, and they say it's not a network issue-- and I just popped my SIM into my old Palm Pre and it can send and receive SMS just fine, so clearly the error is on the phone.

What kind of phone-dependant error could possibly stick through myriad hard resets and OS re-installations?

Thanks so much.

Are you on Gingerbread or froyo?

The send fail issue seems to be common in the Gingerbread version that a lot of people upgraded to. UCLB1 I believe.

If you're on stock froyo though, I'd definitely see if AT&T could replace your phone, because I've never heard of that texting issue bring a problem on stock froyo.
