Not to shabby, I have been using my s8+ for the last week to see if I can deal with Samsung again. Not the biggest fan but willing to give them a another shot.
My s8+ was updated to oreo and Samsung experience 9 which is what the s9+ is running out of the box. After a day, other than visual aspects I really don't notice a huge difference at all between the 2 phones. The s9+ pretty much feels identical to my s8+. There isn't some huge speed increase or anything that is noticeable.
As far as visuals go, I do like that the s9+ software is more refined. It feels more matured like Samsung has finally settled on a design language and really isn't trying to reinvent the phone experience with ever phone they release. I usually just slap nova on my devices and call it a day. I'm liking the Samsung launcher so far. It hasn't done anything to annoy me back to nova.
The ARmoji needs a lot of work. It can't recognize if you have a beard and it looks nothing like me. As far as face tracking goes its sucks compared to the iPhone X and animojis. The intelligent scan is nice and works well, I still prefer the good old finger print. I have notice that in reaching for the finger print sensor that the phone will unlock about 50% of the time with my face before I touch it.
I am not a huge camera buff so I don't really care about how well it can take a picture of my dogs lol. I am going to get some super slo-mo videos of shooting guns this weekend.
I opted for the plus over the regular for the longevity of having the extra ram(that's if it is managed well through the next round of updates). The thing that I am most skeptical about is that this time next year is when this phone will get any sort of software update out side of security updates. My s8 plus was on 7.0 from launch until the end of March. I hope Samsung actually maybe tries to update the android version. If you want the latest android on a Samsung phone you pretty much have to buy the newest phone or a year but the new phones always seem to come first. Yes I understand if software updates are important don't buy a Samsung lol. Here is to hoping and wishing.
Question for the other users, my main reason for trying this again is for the ability to have a secure location for work related information. Working for a medical practice and having ppi on my personal device I always get skeptical about what if someone steals my phone and all that ****. Are there any of you that use the full features of the secure folder and is it a hassle to use or you just get use to it.
